Flat Die Pellet Mill for Sale

The flat die pellet mill, also known as a flat die pellet machine, is a versatile and efficient piece of equipment used for converting various raw materials, such as agricultural residues, sawdust, or feed ingredients, into compact and uniform pellets. It operates by utilizing a flat die with multiple holes and a set of rollers that compress and mold the materials into pellets of consistent size and shape.

This machine is widely employed in small to medium-scale pellet production for applications including biomass fuel production and animal feed manufacturing. Its simplicity, reliability, and ease of use make it a popular choice for those seeking to produce high-quality pellets efficiently.

The Design of Flat Die Pellet Mill

flat die pellet mill design
  1. Hopper: Strengthens and feeds raw materials into the pellet mill for a steady supply.
  2. Control Cabinet: Houses machine controls and electrical components, enabling operation management.
  3. Roller and Die: Critical for pellet formation, exerting pressure to shape materials.
  4. Motor: Powers machine operation, driving rollers and enabling pellet compression.
  5. Main Box: Houses internal components, providing structural support and stability.

Flat Die Pellet Mill Advantages

  1. Compact & Lightweight: Flat die pellet mills are small and lightweight, making transportation and placement in tight spaces easy for small-scale production.
  2. Easy Maintenance: The machine’s simple structure, rollers, and die make it easy to clean and maintain compared to other pellet mills.
  3. Convenient Observation: The pelletizing chamber is easily observed, allowing workers to monitor the pellet formation process without disassembling the mill.
  4. High Tolerance: Flat die pellet mills can handle various raw materials with different characteristics due to their robust design
  5. Simple Operation: Their straightforward structure requires minimal time to understand and operate. Performance can be maintained by replacing rollers and dies as needed.

Working Principle of Flat Die Pellet Mill

The working principle of a Flat Die Pellet Mill is based on the compression and extrusion of raw materials to form pellets. Raw materials, often in the form of powder or small particles, are loaded into a hopper and evenly distributed across the surface of a flat die with small holes or channels.

As the die rotates, a set of rollers presses against the raw material, forcing it through the die holes. This compression process shapes the material into cylindrical pellets. The die holes, with specific sizes, determine the diameter of the pellets, creating the desired pellet shape. As the newly formed pellets exit the die, a knife or cutter trims them to a uniform length. The finished pellets, now uniform in size and shape, are collected for use in various applications.

Flat Die Pellet Mill Classification

There are 2 types of flat die pellet mill: Die-turned pellet mill and Roller-turned pellet mill.

  • Die-turned pellet mill is often called D-type pellet mill, which means the pellet mill main part flat die rotates while the roller is stationary. This type of small pellet mill is usually applied to process softwood like pine, cypress, basswood, fir, bamboo, or most agricultural waste.
  • Roller-turned pellet mill is abbreviated as R-type pellet mill, which means the pellet mill roller rotates while the flat die is stationary. Because of its higher pressure, this type of small pellet mill is often used to process hardwood raw materials, such as oak, birch, cypress, elm tree, larch, poplar, etc.
