How long does it take to compost pig manure?

With the adoption of modern composting technology and the utilization of advanced organic fertilizer fermentation tanks, the decomposition of pig manure within about 7~10 days becomes an achievable and efficient process. This innovative approach involves creating an optimized environment within these specialized tanks, ensuring factors such as temperature, moisture levels, and aeration are meticulously controlled.

The advanced fermentation tanks play a crucial role in accelerating the decomposition process through aerobic methods, enhancing microbial activity, and breaking down organic matter rapidly. This not only significantly reduces the traditional composting timeframe, which typically takes months, but also offers a more sustainable and environmentally friendly solution by minimizing odors and potential pollution.

Moreover, the high-speed decomposition facilitated by these technologies contributes to the preservation of essential nutrient content in the organic fertilizer. The integration of such advanced composting techniques showcases a commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and the production of high-quality organic fertilizers.

What is the sign that pig manure is fully composted?

May 24, 2020 Huaian, Jiangsu
  • Stable Temperature: Well-composted pig manure generates heat during composting, leading to a rise in pile temperature. When the internal temperature stabilizes and gradually decreases to ambient levels, it signals the completion of fermentation.
  • Reduced Odor: Initial composting may produce unpleasant odors, but as fermentation advances, the smell diminishes. Well-composted pig manure should have minimal offensive odors post-fermentation.
  • Color Change: Initially, composted pig manure may have its original color, but as organic matter decomposes, the color shifts to dark brown or black, indicating the conversion of organic material to stable organic matter.
  • Volume Reduction: Throughout composting, organic matter decomposition results in a decrease in pile volume. Well-composted pig manure should significantly reduce in volume post-fermentation.
  • Texture Transformation: Well-composted pig manure should feel loose, forming granular or clumpy structures upon touch, rather than retaining the wet, heavy characteristics of the original manure.

If traditional composting methods are used, it will take about 3 months for pig manure to be completely composted. This method not only takes a long time, but also has a strong smell during fermentation, pollutes the environment, and causes serious loss of nutrients.

Compared with traditional composting methods, modern composting processing time is reduced by 7-8 times. High-temperature fermentation technology promotes rapid fermentation of pig manure, and high temperature can kill bacteria and insect eggs in it. In the process of composting pig manure, the composting equipment will help you mix, crush, turn, etc., making the work more efficient.

What are the main equipment for pig manure composting?

organic fertilizer fermentation tank

  1. The sealed tank effectively prevents the generation of waste gas during the fermentation process, avoiding the occurrence of secondary pollution.
  2. The tank’s interior is insulated with special materials, addressing the issue of fermentation being affected by external temperatures. This allows pig manure to be composted throughout all seasons of the year.
  3. The fermentation tank, driven by hydraulic power, operates smoothly with uniform rotation, enhancing processing efficiency. Additionally, it occupies a relatively small area, approximately 60 square meters.
compost turner

  1. The turning machine is suitable for small farms. Pig manure needs to be exposed to the air, and workers need to endure the unpleasant smell.
  2. The fermentation time takes at least 15 to 30 days, and the cycle is longer.
  3. It requires hundreds of square meters of space but has the same production capacity as an organic fertilizer fermentation tank covering an area of 60 square meters.
  4. Turning your compost pile regularly will speed up the decomposition of organic materials.

organic fertilizer crusher

Transport the pig manure raw materials to the feed port of the organic fertilizer crusher. The crushing effect of the material can be controlled by adjusting the parameters of the organic fertilizer crusher, such as the size of the discharge port, to ensure that it meets the requirements of subsequent fermentation and granulation. The crushed organic materials are discharged through the discharge port of the organic fertilizer grinder to prepare for the next step of fermentation and granulation.

The crushed pig manure is transported to the rotary drum granulator and evenly added to the rotary drum of the granulator. As the turntable rotates, friction and centrifugal force are generated on the pig manure material, causing the material to move in a circular motion. This process forces the powder and granules to knead and squeeze each other, gradually agglomerating into small balls. The rotary drum granulator adopts an overall arc structure and is a perfect granulation equipment with a granulation rate of over 95%. This not only greatly reduces labor intensity, but also significantly improves production efficiency.

After pig manure is fermented and granulated, the particle size is uneven. The rotary drum screener adopts a rotating cylinder structure and can accurately screen pig manure particles by setting screen holes of different specifications. This helps separate particles of different sizes, ensuring that the final organic fertilizer product is consistent in particle size.

The screened particles are dehydrated in a rotary drum dryer to make them meet the standard requirements for moisture content of commercial organic fertilizers, and then a rotary drum cooler is used to cool the particles so that the finished organic fertilizer can be easily stored without deterioration.

After drying and cooling, the temperature difference between the particle temperature and the surrounding environment is less than 5C. Equipped with a belt conveyor, the organic fertilizer particles will be transported to the automatic packaging machine to achieve accurate weighing and an efficient automated bagging process.

What are the benefits of pig manure composting?

  • Nutrient Enrichment: Pig manure is rich in essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, promoting plant growth and development.
  • Soil Structure Improvement: The organic matter in pig manure enhances soil structure, improving aeration and water retention, which is conducive to root growth.
  • Increased Yield and Quality: Proper use of pig manure fertilizer boosts soil fertility, leading to increased crop yield and improved product quality.
  • Erosion Control: The solid soil structure resulting from pig manure application reduces soil erosion by water, preserving soil quality.
  • Environmental Sustainability: The judicious use of pig manure helps recycle organic waste, mitigating environmental pollution and contributing to sustainable agriculture.
